Multi-Company Training Strengthens Long-Range Fireground Operations
Harlem, GA - The Harlem Fire Department conducted a second-quarter multi-company training exercise at the Columbia County Fire Rescue Training Center alongside Columbia County Fire Rescue.
The drill focused on advanced attack line deployment, with personnel training on hose stretches ranging from 300 to 600 feet. These operations are critical for incidents occurring in areas with restricted access or obstructions that prevent apparatus from positioning close to the fire. Crews also practiced single-firefighter “Blitz” attack techniques, utilizing the deck gun and top-mounted controls on Engine 1 to deliver rapid, high-volume fire streams.
Such coordinated training evolutions play a key role in enhancing operational readiness, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and maintaining the department’s insurance rating through continued proficiency in specialized fireground tactics.
