Responders Trained in Small Boat Rescue Operations

Atlantic Beach, N.Y. — June 27 — A small boat handling and rescue class was held at Department Atlantic Beach Rescue, 1 Rescue Rd., Atlantic Beach, NY 11509-1247. The next day, training was held at the base of Eldo. Participants finished practical training in crew coordination, victim recovery, safe navigation, and boat operations. Search methods, emergency communications, and hazard awareness for water occurrences were also included in the course.


Through hands-on exercises, participants were able to reinforce safe operating procedures while applying classroom knowledge in authentic settings. Members were able to maintain preparedness for maritime rescue responses around the Atlantic Beach shoreline and adjacent waterways, develop teamwork, and enhance operational abilities thanks to the training.
