On July 16, members of the Mattituck and Cutchogue fire departments participated in a cooperative water rescue training exercise in Cutchogue Harbor.
Firefighters went through several training stations that concentrated on recovering and retrieving victims from boats and the beach. During the two-hour training, crews rehearsed rescue swimming, backboarding, throw bag deployment, boat operations, and patient evacuation methods.
