Providence, R.I. — July 7 — Ten Central High School seniors who completed the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program were honored by the Providence Fire Department. During their high school years, the Class of 2026 completed hundreds of hours of classroom education, practical fire training, Firefighter I and II certification requirements, and EMT curriculum. The program, which was created in collaboration with Providence Public Schools, trains children for jobs in emergency medical services and firefighting.

In addition to giving students globally recognized skills and certificates, the graduation represented a significant step in developing the department's future workforce. Opportunities for young individuals interested in providing emergency services to the Providence community are still being expanded by the program.
