Bakersfield, VT. — July 18 — Two statewide awards honoring leadership and service were given to the Bakersfield Volunteer Fire Department upon their return from the Vermont State Firefighters Convention in St. Albans. Rescue Squad Member of the Year went to Second Assistant Chief Ginger Parent, while Chief of the Year went to First Assistant Chief Todd Cosgrove. Firefighters from all throughout Vermont came together for training, meetings, and recognition events during the annual conference.

The department, which has its headquarters at 181 North Main Street, offers the neighborhood mutual help, emergency medical response, rescue services, and fire protection. The awardees' ongoing commitment to serve their department, community, and Vermont fire service was reflected in the awards.
