Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department dedicates new Rescue truck after Chief Janet Morgan.

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

In June 2026 the Woodbury (CT) Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of a new heavy rescue built by Gowans Knight on a new Spartan chassis. Designated as Rescue 3, it replaces a 1998 Ford/4Guys rescue. The new Rescue 3 is well equipped with various rescue gear including vehicle extrication, as well as ice/water rescue gear. It is stationed at Woodbury Fire Headquarters, 25 Quassuk Rd.

In a surprise move, the members of the Woodbury VFD worked behind the scenes to have the new Rescue 3 dedicated to Chief Janet Morgan. Chief Morgan joined the WVFD in 1980, alongside her father and brother, and has been active ever since. She has held various positions throughout her career becoming the town fire marshal in 2004, and the Chief in 2005. She continues to serve in both roles.
