South Windsor, CT - The South Windsor Fire Department responded with the South Windsor Police Department to a truck that made contact with an overhead power line on Ellington Road.

Crews found a trash truck involved, with the driver remaining inside and uninjured. Command requested Eversource Energy to secure the power before operations began. The truck subsequently caught fire, requiring a coordinated response.

Once power was confirmed off, crews repositioned the vehicle and extinguished the fire from above after hydraulic issues prevented unloading. Squad 2, Engine 6, and Engine 3 operated at the scene while traffic was controlled with police assistance.

The driver was evaluated by Ambulance Service of Manchester and did not require transport.
