Fleischmanns, N.Y. — July 5 — In remembrance of Chief David Gagnon of the Cottekill Volunteer Fire Company, who passed away while performing his duties, the Fleischmanns Fire Department shared a memorial. A long-standing fire department custom of honoring personnel who lost their lives defending their communities was represented in the memorial. Across emergency services groups, mourning bands and memorial displays continue to represent respect, solidarity, and remembering.

The celebration also emphasized how crucial it is to provide assistance to the friends, family, and fellow firefighters of fallen members while upholding their leadership, commitment, and public service legacy for upcoming generations.
