Margaretville, N.Y. — July 4 — As the United States commemorated the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Margaretville Fire Department, located at 77 Church St., observed Independence Day. Local events, parades, and community get-togethers were held to honor the historic milestone, which marked the nation's founding in 1776. Firefighters promoted fire safety during pyrotechnics and outdoor activities while remaining prepared to respond to situations as locals enjoyed the holiday.
