Moravia, N.Y. — June 29 — Union Springs Fire Department, formerly known as Union Hose & Engine Company, received a Surface Water Rescue Technician training from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. The primary subjects of practical training for firemen from different departments were emergency response and water rescue operations.

Union Springs residents Bradley Thurston, Will Pierce, Kevin Long, and Jessi Waldron completed the training successfully and were certified as Surface Water Rescue Technicians. The training improved the department's technical rescue capabilities and reinforced its commitment to ongoing professional growth. The certification gives firefighters the tools they need to deal with water-related issues in the region safely and effectively.
