BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — July 28 — Mutual aid resources from the Hawthorne and Sleepy Hollow fire departments were sent to Briar cliff Manor on early Tuesday as local firefighters dealt with a structure fire.

The Hawthorne Fire Department, located at 25 Home Street, was the first to respond to the mutual-aid request.

Additional support came from the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department as crews moved to assist in maintaining coverage and supporting operations in the Briar cliff Manor Fire District.

Hawthorne’s responding units included Car 2192, Car 2193, and Engine 155.

Sleepy Hollow contributed Car 2313 and Tower Ladder 38.Department records show that Engine 155 was part of Hawthorne’s vehicle fleet, while Sleepy Hollow operated Tower Ladder 38 and Chief Car 2313.

The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department is a full volunteer department and handles over 1,000 fire, motor vehicle, and ambulance calls annually, according to the village.

This mutual aid effort enabled firefighters from nearby departments to assist the local response while ensuring continued emergency coverage in other parts of the area.

Westchester County has organized its fire departments into battalions, with Hawthorne part of Battalion 11 and Briar cliff Manor and Sleepy Hollow part of Battalion 12.

The incident highlighted the importance of mutual aid in a county where fire departments routinely collaborate across district lines during major emergencies.
