On June 11, the East Amherst Fire Department expanded its emergency medical response capabilities by putting a new advanced life support ambulance into operation.

A larger patient compartment, a hydraulic stretcher, a motorized stair chair, a LUCAS automatic CPR machine, a cardiac monitor-defibrillator, a safety restraint system for caregivers, and cutting-edge emergency medical equipment are all aspects of the four-wheel drive ambulance. According to department officials, the new unit will improve patient treatment and increase EMS staff safety.

The ambulance will assist paramedics, EMTs, and Advanced EMTs in providing emergency medical services in East Amherst and the surrounding areas.
