At 2:30 a.m. on June 14, the Alpine Fire Department responded to a call for mutual aid, helping the East Bergen Rappel Team with a recovery operation at the State Line Lookout.
During the early morning operation, which called for coordination and specialist equipment in the rocky cliff area, firefighters assisted the technical rescue team. Before the issue was cleared at around seven in the morning, crews stayed on the scene for many hours.
