During a busy Independence Day, the Nantucket Fire Department supported numerous community events throughout the island and responded to 33 calls for assistance.

Firefighters responded to a range of situations, such as medical crises, collisions involving bicycles and cars, a broken elevator, a property struck by lightning, and an unapproved beach bonfire. Additionally, crews covered the annual fireworks display, Main Street celebrations, the Firecracker 5K, and the Great Water Fight.

In order to guarantee a safe holiday celebration, Fire Prevention staff also finished safety checks of food sellers and the fireworks barge, collaborating with other public safety organizations.
