Westford, MA. — June 20 — Firefighters from all four shifts in the Westford Fire Department strengthened their car rescue skills during auto extrication training. Crews trained using new Hurst eDRAULIC extrication tools, also called the Jaws of Life, using automobiles from the most recent Westford Academy fake accident event.
Firefighters were able to practice accessing damaged passenger compartments and extracting simulated trapped individuals under realistic conditions thanks to the battery-powered equipment. The cars were given by Christopher's Towing, which also drove them to the fire station for the drill. Frequent practical training equips crews for motor vehicle incidents and helps firemen stay proficient with contemporary rescue equipment.
