As part of the department's recruit training program, a probationary fireman with Andover Fire Rescue successfully performed an aerial ladder climb at Central Fire Station on June 24.

Before enrolling in the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, the firefighter ascended to the top of the department's 105-foot aerial ladder. The goal of the practice is to help novice firefighters gain self-assurance and comfort handling aerial equipment at heights.
