At its yearly swearing-in ceremony on June 7, the Freetown Fire Department honored Firefighter/EMT Robert Macomber with a promotion to Career Firefighter/EMT.

Macomber began working for the department as a call firefighter in July 2023 and obtained Firefighter I/II certification in 2024 after completing Class 111 at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Later that year, he earned his EMT certification, and he is currently enrolled in a paramedic school.

Macomber was pinned by his father, Charles Macomber, a veteran call firefighter, and swore in by Town Clerk Cheryl Estrella. Group B is where he has been assigned.
