South Hadley, MA. — July 1 — Firefighter/EMT Abby Desrochers received recognition from South Hadley Fire District 1 upon her completion of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Call/Volunteer Recruit Training Program. She obtained her Firefighter I/II Pro Board Certification after 4½ months of classroom training, live-fire drills, and hands-on skills training. The nationally accredited certification satisfies professional standards while preparing firemen for emergency response and structural firefighting.

Desrochers' accomplishment increased the number of certified firefighters in the department, strengthening its operational readiness. As she prepared to assist emergency operations and safeguard the South Hadley community, department authorities acknowledged her commitment to training and public service.
