Winter Harbor, Maine — June 14 — After Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury of the Searsmont Fire Department died while performing his duties, the Winter Harbor Fire Department sent its condolences. Woodbury became the second firefighter to die in the Robbins Lumber mill fire and explosion on May 15 due to injuries he received while responding to the disaster.

The department offered sympathy for his family, fellow firefighters, and the Searsmont community while acknowledging his commitment to public service. As departments celebrated a colleague whose dedication and service will be remembered with respect, the tribute demonstrated the close ties that exist throughout Maine's fire service.
