The HAAS Alert Safety Cloud system, which was put in a number of emergency vehicles two years ago to increase responder safety, continues to provide safety benefits, according to the Charlton Fire Department.

The system warned 4,517 drivers in May, and emergency personnel responded to 376 occurrences, according to the department's monthly report. According to department officials, the technology has helped protect responders and the general public by measurably lowering vehicle speeds close to emergency scenes.
