Cumberland Fire Department Conducts Wilderness Rescue Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On June 11, the Cumberland Fire Department held wilderness rescue training at Twin Brooks, providing firefighters with a chance to practice finding, tending to, and evacuating injured patients from isolated locations.

Two rescue scenarios—a patient hurt after falling from a bridge and a hiker with head and leg injuries following a fall—were part of the practice. Crews discovered each patient, conducted medical evaluations, administered treatment, packaged the patients for transportation, and transported them from the wooded area to definitive care using mapping data supplied by the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center.
