Wales, Mass. — June 18 — Following their completion of the Monson Fire Department-sponsored regional recruit training program, Penny Duverger, Cameron Hiltbrand, and Harley Kroll were acknowledged by the Wales Fire Department. Through classroom instruction and practical training, the academy taught fire suppression, rescue operations, firefighter safety, hazardous materials knowledge, and emergency response.

The program was backed by instructors from a number of nearby departments, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration in firefighter education. As the three graduates started their jobs in the fire service, department authorities congratulated them. Three freshly qualified firefighters were added to the department's ranks as a result of the academy's successful completion.
