Washington Fire and EMS Conducted Technical Rescue Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Washington, N.H. — June 29 — On Halfmoon Pond Road, Washington Fire and EMS simulated a two-patient bicycle accident in difficult terrain as part of a distant rescue training exercise. After responding with a UTV, ambulance, engine, and utility vehicle, the crews found one patient on the trail and another around 70 feet down an embankment. In order to perform the technical rescue, firefighters and emergency medical services professionals used a rope-based Z-system and a Stokes basket to treat both simulated victims.

During the practice, Lempster Fire supplied extra staff and equipment. The training improved coordination, communication, and patient care, assisting crews in getting ready for crises in isolated locations with little access to vehicles.
