Alton, N.H. — June 13 — The Alton Fire Department improved its preparedness for water crises by completing the Life Saving Resources Open Water Rescue Technician course in Alton Bay. Training in victim drowning identification, rescue methods, cold-water survival, boat operations, spinal immobilization, search patterns, throw-bag deployment, and surface water rescue was conducted by instructors from the Center Ossipee Fire Department.
To improve their practical reaction skills, firefighters also performed victim retrievals, long-distance swims, and realistic emergency scenarios. The department's capacity to safeguard locals and guests on Alton's lakes and other waterways was enhanced by the nationally acclaimed training program, which equipped teams to function safely and efficiently during water rescue emergencies.
