Confined Space Training Reinforces Critical Rescue Skills

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Auburn, ME - Auburn - Maine Fire Department Training Division completed annual confined space training with all four shifts, joined by Poland Fire Rescue.

This year’s hands-on scenario was based on a past local incident involving a worker injured inside a cement truck, allowing crews to apply real-world lessons to modern rescue techniques. Firefighters practiced entry, patient care, and safe extrication in a complex confined space environment.

By combining experience with updated equipment and methods, these evolutions ensure crews remain prepared for high-risk, low-frequency emergencies. The departments also thank Auburn Concrete for supporting and hosting the training.
