Binghamton, N.Y. — June 15 — After a longstanding member and commander of the Chenango Forks Fire Company passed away, the Prospect Terrace Fire Department, located at 2 Girard Ave., sent their condolences. During a trying time, the department offered assistance to the member's friends, family, and fellow firefighters.

The letter demonstrated the close ties that exist among the fire service, as nearby departments frequently support one another after a fireman is lost. Recognizing the member's commitment to the community and the enduring effects of a lifetime of service to the fire service and Broome County, fire departments throughout the area also sent their condolences.
