Allegany, N.Y. — May 31 — According to Allegany County Fire Wire, members of the rescue teams from Allentown and Wellsville successfully finished a cooperative training exercise that simulated an airplane crash in a remote location. Search operations, victim triage, fire suppression, airbag lifting, aircraft extrication, and rope rescue techniques were all practiced by firefighters and rescuers.

In order to test crews' ability to collaborate in the field, volunteer victims developed realistic patient care scenarios. During complicated emergencies, multi-agency drills enhance incident command, coordination, and communication. In addition to improving regional readiness for aviation mishaps and other major emergencies across Allegany County, the training improved rescuers' technical rescue abilities.
