This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Wellsville, N.Y. — June 14 — The American Legion's Flag Day event at the Wellsville Rod and Gun Club was supported by personnel and an engine from the Wellsville NY Vol. Fire Department. Through a supervised flag burning carried out in compliance with U.S. Flag Code customs, firefighters helped with the ceremonial retirement of unserviceable American flags.

The agency supported a long-standing community celebration honoring the country's flag while assisting in making sure the event was executed safely. In order to demonstrate their dedication to public service beyond emergency response, fire departments frequently collaborate with veterans' organizations at civic events. While acknowledging the significance of honoring and appropriately retiring worn American flags, the ceremony improved bonds among the community.
