Franklinville, N.J. — June 8 — To improve rural water delivery operations, the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company held draft training at Franklinville Lake. Firefighters reinforced methods used in situations where fire hydrants are not available by practicing drawing water with fire apparatus and portable pumps. Establishing a consistent water supply, preserving pump performance, and enhancing cooperation during prolonged firefighting operations were the key objectives of the exercise.

Frequent drafting exercises assist firefighters in maintaining equipment proficiency while training crews for events needing continuous water delivery, such as brush fires and structure fires. The training enhanced the department's operational preparedness and strengthened its capacity to offer dependable mutual aid and fire protection to Franklin Township and the adjacent Gloucester County areas.
