Rushford Firefighters Completed Controlled Burn Exercise

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

RUSHFORD, N.Y. — June 7 — Rushford firefighters participated in a controlled burn and rural water supply training exercise with the Centerville fire department. In order to fuel the engine at the training site, firefighters drafted water from a neighboring bridge as part of a pumper relay operation. Pump operations, water relay methods, and departmental cooperation were all improved by the exercise.

For situations where firefighters must rely on natural water sources in the absence of hydrants, training in rural water supply is crucial. In order to keep both departments prepared for future emergency responses, the session also offered a chance to evaluate equipment performance and enhance teamwork.
