ALLENTOWN, N.Y. — May 31 — In a joint training exercise, members of Wellsville Rescue and the Allentown Volunteer Fire Company took part in a simulated airplane crash in a remote location. Using volunteer patients with simulated injuries, crews performed search operations, victim triage, fire suppression, airbag lifting, airplane extrication, and rope rescue situations. Technical rescue skills, patient care, and agency coordination under difficult circumstances were all improved by the practical training.
Responders can better prepare for complicated emergencies that call for specific methods and coordination by participating in exercises like this one. Additionally, the training acknowledged the volunteer victims whose involvement contributed to the development of realistic scenarios for rescue workers and firefighters.
