BERLIN, N.J. — May 29 — Firefighter Gary Behnke was honored by Berlin Fire Company No. 1 for retiring from full-time work at VCI Emergency Vehicles and for 50 years of active volunteer service. Over the course of his fifty years with the department, Behnke was a trusted fireman, mentor, and knowledgeable resource for other members. Training, day-to-day operations, and the department's ongoing community outreach were all aided by his experience and willingness to assist.

Members of the department expressed gratitude to him for his enduring services and commitment to the fire service. A career that demonstrated dedication, leadership, and support for the organization and the residents it serves was honored.
