Unity Fire Conducted Pump and Draft Training

UNITY, N.H. — June 24 — To improve rural water delivery operations, the Unity Fire Department Association offered drafting and pump training. In a region with few fire hydrants, firefighters experimented pulling water from surrounding natural sources. Pump operations, water transfer protocols, and equipment setup for rural firefighting were all reinforced during the drill.


In order to verify that pumps and other equipment were functioning correctly and prepared for emergency response, crews carefully examined and tested each fire apparatus. In towns without hydrant systems, regular pump and drafting drills assist firefighters retain critical skills, enhance operational readiness, and guarantee a reliable water supply during structure fires and other emergencies.
