On June 15, Stella, a local fourth grader, and her sister had an unforgettable journey to school on one of the department's fire engines thanks to the efforts of Canterbury Fire & Rescue personnel.

Stella won the chance earlier in the academic year through an event at CES, according to officials. In addition to acknowledging her accomplishment, the unique journey allowed the two sisters to meet department personnel and experience commuting to school in a fire apparatus.

Stella was complimented by department leaders on obtaining the experience, and they stated that community engagement initiatives like this foster a strong relationship between firemen and the community while also strengthening bonds with local schools.
