Hancock Volunteer Fire Department Reports Busy May With 44 Calls

While continuing training, member growth, and preparations for the department's new fire station, Hancock Volunteer Fire Department members continued to be active during May, responding to 44 service requests.


According to officials, the agency responded to 38 medical calls, two propane alarms, two mutual help structure fires, one fire alarm, and one unpermitted burn during the month, totaling 214 events for 2026. Additionally, three new members finished the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) and started apparatus driver training, while firefighters conducted monthly vehicle extrication training using donated vehicles from DC Towing & Recovery. An additional member began EMT training.
