Machinery Mayhem Training Strengthens Technical Rescue Skills

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The second night of Machinery Mayhem, a practical rescue training program created to equip firemen for challenging technical rescue situations, was attended by members of the Chichester Fire Department on June 16.

Firefighters were taught on a range of actual scenarios, according to officials, including as scene size-up, hazard recognition, patient care, lock out/tag out (LOTO) protocols, head entrapment between railings, meat grinder rescues, snowblower entrapments, and rebar impalement events. Crews had to evaluate risks, create rescue strategies, and remove simulated casualties safely while tending to patients in each evolution.
