Newbury Fire Rescue Assists Boat Taking on Water on Lake Sunapee

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

A boat that was taking on water close to Malia Terrace on Lake Sunapee prompted Newbury Fire Rescue personnel to respond to a water rescue call on June 16.

Boat 1 was sent along with Sunapee Fire Department Boat 2, according to officials, following reports of a ship with passengers having problems in the water. When Newbury workers arrived, a private vessel was already towing the damaged boat in the direction of Newbury Harbor.

Both boats were securely escorted to the harbor by firefighters, who also kept an eye on the situation to make sure everyone on board got ashore without any problems. Boat 1 informed Sunapee responders that their support was no longer required once the situation had settled, enabling them to resume their duties.
