Members of the City of Rutland Fire Department finished their yearly Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) recertification training in New Hampshire on May 31.
According to officials, the annual live-fire training exercise is necessary to preserve certification and guarantee that firemen are still equipped to handle aircraft-related incidents. The specialist program focuses on rescue operations, emergency response methods specific to aviation events, including aircraft fire suppression.
As part of the department's agreement with the state to provide emergency services for the airport and its environs, department authorities pointed out that a few employees from each shift take part in ARFF training.
