Keene Firefighters Sharpen Technical Rope Rescue Skills in Advanced Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Keene, NH - Members of the Professional Firefighters of Keene IAFF Local 3265 recently participated in rope rescue training focused on safely accessing and removing patients from difficult and elevated terrain.

Training scenarios included rope system construction, patient packaging, litter operations, edge transitions, and raising and lowering techniques over a rock face. These exercises are designed to simulate real-world technical rescue situations and strengthen teamwork under challenging conditions.

Officials note that technical rescues are low-frequency but high-risk incidents that require continuous practice to maintain a high level of readiness.

The training helps ensure crews are prepared to respond to emergencies involving stranded hikers, injured climbers, or patients in locations inaccessible to traditional rescue methods.
