This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

South Foster, R.I. — June 16 — A roadway incident safety training session was held by South Foster Volunteer Fire Company with the goal of safeguarding responders working in close proximity to moving vehicles. Lane closures, detours, equipment placement, communication, and scene safety procedures were all assessed by firefighters and cooperating agencies. Members talked about practical situations and methods for creating safer work areas in the event of collisions, auto accidents, emergency medical calls, and other roadside situations.

In order to enhance traffic control and responder protection, the training placed a strong emphasis on collaboration between emergency services and partner agencies. Frequent exercises of this kind improve operational preparedness and lower risks for workers near and on active roads.
