Members of the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company Station 11 took part in Barnegat High School's Project CRASH program on May 23. This instructional program aims to highlight the risks and repercussions of driving while intoxicated.
According to officials, the program gave graduating students a realistic perspective on how situations involving drunk driving impact victims, friends, families, first responders, and the larger community. Students were able to observe the possible consequences of a single bad decision made while operating a vehicle through a simulated emergency response scenario.
To make the event feasible, the department collaborated with the Barnegat Police Department, Barnegat First Aid Squad, Stafford Township Police Department Communications Division, Hackensack Meridian Health, South Shore Towing, student volunteers, and school personnel.
