Avenel Fire Department members came together on Memorial Day to pay tribute to the American military personnel who lost their lives while serving their country.

According to officials, firefighters gathered outside the station and laid a wreath at the department's memorial monument in remembrance of departed department colleagues and dead service personnel. Members had the chance to consider the sacrifices made by individuals who served their nation and communities during the ceremony.
