Junior Firefighter Mriam Awad Awarded NJ&NYVFA Scholarship

Congratulations to Junior Firefighter Mriam Awad, who was awarded a scholarship from the New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association on Friday, June 6, in recognition of her dedication to volunteer service and academic excellence.

The award was presented at the NJ&NYVFA Annual Convention in Lyndhurst. Former Chief George H. Heflich Sr. accepted the honor on Mriam’s behalf and later presented it to her at Engine 4.

A valued member of Washington Hook & Ladder for the past two years, Mriam will be attending Rutgers University – New Brunswick this fall to study Biomedical Engineering. The department is proud of her accomplishments and excited for what’s ahead.
