Members of the Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion during World War II on June 6th.
Operation Overlord, which took place on June 6, 1944, was the biggest combined land, sea, and air invasion in history, according to officials. A pivotal moment in the war, the Normandy assault started the liberation of France and Western Europe from Nazi rule.
Members of the department urged the public to pause and consider the bravery, selflessness, and dedication of the soldiers who took part in the operation.
