This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Monroeville, PA. — July 15 — During a two-alarm residential building fire in North Braddock, Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department Company 1 sent out Engine 12 to offer standby coverage. The team was quickly relocated to the fire scene, where they helped with overhaul operations and put out any hot spots that remained after the main fire attack. Engine 12 returned to the standby assignment after finishing fireground duties so that other units may continue to provide emergency coverage.

In addition to demonstrating the importance of regional collaboration during protracted crises requiring several fire departments and emergency response resources, the coordinated mutual assistance response guaranteed sufficient fire protection for nearby areas.
