Regional Technical Rescue Drill Enhances Confined Space and HazMat Capabilities
Hollywood, FL - Hollywood Fire Rescue’s B-Shift HazMat/Technical Rescue Team participated in a coordinated regional training exercise alongside multiple Broward County Technical Rescue Teams.
The scenario involved an injured worker inside a confined space aboard a maritime vessel, incorporating a simulated oxygen-deficient environment to replicate hazardous conditions and add a HazMat component to the operation.
Teams operated in rotation to access, treat, and extricate the victim, demonstrating advanced rescue techniques. A tripod system was utilized to safely lower rescuers into the vessel, while a specialized harness enabled a controlled lift through a confined opening.
This multi-agency training reinforced technical rescue proficiency, hazard awareness, and coordinated response capabilities in complex environments.
