Four Pittsfield Fire Department employees received their degrees from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Career Recruit Program on June 2.

The 10-week program, according to officials, prepared recruits for the rigors of a career in the fire department while testing their physical and mental limits. The firefighters resumed their regular duties within the department after graduating.

Nolan Jankowski, Justin Nackoul, Brent Chylinski, and Myles Candelet, all probationary firefighters, were among the graduates. The new firemen and the entire Class S45 were congratulated by department authorities on attaining the milestone and finishing the demanding training program at the academy.
