Hawley Volunteer Fire Department members convened at the West Station on June 6th for a practical vehicle rescue training session that emphasized the use of hydraulic extrication equipment.
According to officials, firemen studied and trained using Jaws of Life equipment, which is frequently utilized in auto accidents and other rescue situations involving trapped patients. Hydraulic rams, vehicle stabilization methods, and the use of a combination tool were all covered in the training.
Members created a realistic training environment by simulating the rescue of a trapped individual using a hefty steel plate.
