Members of the Essex Fire Department welcomed kindergarten kids from Essex Elementary School for the department's yearly station visit during the first week of June.

According to officials, the long-standing custom allows young kids to meet local firefighters, learn about fire safety, and get a close-up look at fire apparatus. During the morning, firefighters provided an interactive look at the vehicles and equipment utilized in emergency operations and shared safety advice.

The visit, which emphasizes the value of fostering good relationships with young citizens, is one of the department's favorite community outreach events each year, according to department personnel.
