OAK BLUFFS, MA — May 14th — After 22 years of service to the department and community, Captain John O'Donnell was honored by the Oak Bluffs Fire-EMS Department upon his retirement. Following in the footsteps of his father, Bruce O'Donnell, a former assistant fire chief, O'Donnell started his career as a junior firefighter.
He held the positions of Captain of Engine Company #2 and Rescue Company #1. In addition, he participated to the department's Honor Guard and Dive Support teams over his 19 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. Department representatives wished O'Donnell a happy retirement and praised him for his commitment.
